The Voices (2015)

I heard voices too while watching this film and I loved what they had to say. This movie is about a loser (Ryan Reynolds) who happens to have a bad mental illness. He hears voices, especially from his pets. His cat tells him to kill people while his dog (as most good doggies do) tells him that he can still be a good human. This movie has a great balance of being hilarious, scary and sad. You feel bad for Reynolds, but you also fear for any woman that comes near him. Anna Kendrick and Gemma Arterton were both funny and gorgeous as the trophy women in Reynolds sick life. I hadn’t heard of this movie before watching it, but I’m really glad I did. This is one of those hidden gem films, who knows if it becomes a cult classic some day.

Se7en (1995)

I wish I was a sloth so I could sit and watch this all day. I’m envious at how good this movie was. I do think that both actors took great pride in their work. Brad Pitt wasn’t as dolled up in this, maybe so the girls wouldn’t lust over him the whole time. I’m a total glutton for these kind of crime/thrillers. When they are made poorly though, they will feel the wrath of my keyboard strokes. Would it be greedy of me to want a movie called Eight? Yeah, probably… Still, a man can dream!

Maniac

I’ve always thought that Elijah Wood looks like (and possibly is) a serial killer. Especially all the creepy I want to kill you looks he gives to Sam in the Lord of the Rings. Wood does a great job in this, although you don’t see him much except in reflections in mirrors. The film is mostly shot from Wood’s 1st person perspective which is cool. Arnezeder is also really good in this. Now all the positives are done. This movie was overly violent and has a terrible ending. View at your own risk.

The Frozen Ground

A fun serial killer catching movie. Nick Cage does what he does best, solving things. He wasn’t a crazy action star just a good detective. John Cusack was also excellent as the films bad guy. 50 Cent wins 2013’s worst hair award for this film. Vanessa Hudgens was a great damsel in distress, in fact it took me a long while to even realize that she was in this. I didn’t recognize her. The movie isn’t the best in the world but it’s worth watching especially if you love serial killer films.
