Hot Fuzz (2007)

Fuzz never felt so good. I feel like with me, this movie is underrated. I hardly ever feel like watching it. I think I understand now. It’s not as fun as Shaun of the Dead, it has a slower build-up to its awesome climax… but once that fuse is lit, this movie explodes into some awesome action. I think I just need to remind myself that the wait is worth it and when the sea mine blows, this movie will blow you away. Timothy Dalton steals the show for sure, but I love Nick Frost. Simon Pegg is pretty unlikable, but I understand the need for his character. There are other good cameos too that build the movie up. It has a good sense of mystery and some action that will make you want to go to the pub for a pint afterwards! A must watch for Edgar Wright fans.

Cuban Fury (2014)

Nick Frost’s version of Run Fatboy Run, takes on the world of Salsa dancing. It has some really funny moments and some head scratching moments too. I don’t know how much actual Salsa dancing Frost did, but if that was him doing those moves, bravo. The dancing was excellent in the film. I also loved the dance fight between Frost and O’Dowd. Rashida Jones was the object of obsession between the two men and I could see why, she was gorgeous in this film. The music was fun and lively and like I said there were some genuinely funny moments, it just wasn’t great all the time. If you like dancing movies, this one is pretty good.

The World’s End (2013)

The end of the world has never been more fun! This isn’t as good as Shaun of the Dead and I think it’s slightly better than I remember Hot Fuzz being. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost apologize well for Paul with this movie. Edgar Wright is just an amazing director… and he knows how to make me laugh uncontrollably. The fight scenes were intense and hilarious. The idea of the film was simple but it lead to a lot of hilarity. This is easily a movie you could watch over and over again with a cold pint.

Shaun of the Dead

This movie is so great! Not only is it a great comedy but it is also a fantastic Zombie movie. Let’s call it a Zomedy. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are just amazing in this film. The rest of the cast fill in just nicely. I think the way this was filmed was also great. Even watching Shaun get ready for work was interesting. A lot of wonderful little details are seen in the background showing that they put a lot of thought into small details. Just an excellent movie that everyone should watch.

Ice Age: Continental Drift

Once again they were able to put out a fourth installment of this movie and it still is fun and fresh. I love the voice talent for these movies and I especially love the new cast members including Sean William Scott, J Lo, Alan Tudyk, Wanda Sykes, Nick Frost, Simon Pegg and Peter Dinklage. The continents are splitting apart forcing the heroes to get back to their families but they have to deal with the pirates first. It’s zany and weird but I still love it, even four movies in.

Paul

A very disappointing movie. I had great expectations for this film since it had Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. This also had a ton of other big actors in it including Sigourney Weaver, Jane Lynch, Jason Bateman, Seth Rogen, Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig. Even with this star studded cast it falls way short. It just wasn’t funny and some parts, especially Wiig’s character, I was just offended. I really wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. The best part about this movie was the nods to other sci-fi films.
