20th Century Women (2016)

I wish this was a film made before film was even invented. This movie was as fast moving as a stalled-out car. None of the characters had moved forward in their lives and the relationships were really awkward and dumb. I hated the Gerwig & Crudup relationship and don’t even get me started on the main boy’s relationship with Elle Fanning. Talk about being a giant cuckold. The movie isn’t incredibly long, but it felt like it took centuries to go through. I wouldn’t recommend this at all unless you seek frustration.

Blood Ties (2014)

There was some blood and some people wore ties, but that doesn’t matter because this film just wasn’t that interesting. The main thing you need to know about this film is that it’s about Clive Owen and Billy Crudup being brothers. One is a cop the other is a habitual felon. Obviously this causes some interesting dinner conversations. The film has an all-star female cast of Zoe Saldana, Mila Kunis and Marion Cotillard. Sadly, this bevvy of beauties is underused for the film. The movie also really drags at times, making you check the clock more often than you do during New Year’s Eve. It’s not a terrible movie by any means, it just takes a great stock of actors and makes them forgettable. What a shame.

Big Fish

The film caught me hook, line and sinker. I absolutely adore this wonderful movie made by Tim Burton. It has great way of sucking you into the film and you just want to stay there and listen to its story. This is one of my favorite Ewan McGregor movies, he’s so dang charming in it. The rest of the cast is also excellent. Even though it takes a while to warm up to Billy Crudup. A fantastical tall tale that feels like the Princess Bride but will have you laugh and cry. This is a film you can’t miss.
