The Girl on the Train (2016)

I’d rather just ride a train. This movie had one giant pitfall to overcome. Can it be translated from it’s wonderful book form to a workable movie? The answer is no. The main reason for that is that the Girl on the Train book by Paula Hawkins is about a hero with a faulty alcoholic memory that is trying to solve a missing person case. This part is hard to do because so much of it is internal. Her trying to work things out in her sloshed mind. I think all the acting was well done, especially by Emily Blunt, Justin Theroux and Haley Bennett. I just had little hope for this being a good movie, after I broke my rule and read the book first. Oh well, I hope this at least gets more people to try the book, because it was awesome.
