I wouldn’t say this film is bee-autifully done, but I must say it descends into madness pretty quickly at the end. This movie is probably my favorite from the great Nicolas Cage. He is a giant Christmas ham in this film. The lines are all wonderfully and terribly written and despite the very slow beginning, if you can hold out, you are in for a sweet treat of stupidity at the end. The part with the bear costume is my favorite part by far, also Cage being a total jerk in a children’s classroom is a close second. I loved seeing Francis Conroy and Ellen Burstyn in this, although they don’t leap off the screen either. I was surprised to see James Franco and Aaron Eckhart in the credits as they are just background characters in a trucker’s diner. I won’t give this an A rating, and it’s definitely NOT THE BEE’s, but it’s a solid F for fun.
