The 5th Wave (2016)

This film didn’t really make any waves for me. I always like seeing Chloe Grace on the screen but there was something weird about her in this post-apocalyptic tale… oh yeah, she had perfect hair and makeup. Sure, it makes her look really beautiful, but I guess when stores are completely looted the Loreal section remained untouched. I liked seeing the different attacks or “waves” from the Others. It felt like the plagues from the Bible. I was able to guess the twist really early on, but I seem to be getting pretty good at that lately. Liev Schreiber is always good, but seems to be typecast into certain roles and I wish Ron Livingston would have had a bigger part in this. The whole movie felt like a mix between Ender’s Game and War of the Worlds. Which normally would be excellent, but alas, this is just another Young Adult novel quickly made into a film before people wise up that they aren’t really that good. Stick to the reading kids, it’s good for you!

60/100
