Minions (2015)

Ba-na-nah. I feel like the Despicable Me series has been hit with a freeze ray. The first one is still really excellent, I didn’t love the sequel and now this prequel is also really not that good. There are a few parts that made me smile, but it doesn’t have the heart that the first movie has. First, I hate the minions language. It’s practically baby-talk with a bunch of Spanish mixed in. Listening to long segments with the minions “talking” got pretty old, pretty fast. I did like when the regular humans came into the picture, especially Scarlet Overkill’s husband. He was great, and was played by Jon Hamm. Allison Janney and Michael Keaton’s part was pretty good too. The movie is pretty short, just like the protagonists but it drags on. I’m hoping they stop making movies in this series, but children are still obsessed with it so I’m not getting my hopes up.
