Whoa Mama. This movie was pretty crazy. I kept trying to put myself in the mother’s shoes in this film about how hard it is to raise a child with severe behavior issues. I just don’t know what I would do. Half the time you want to take the kid to an insane asylum and the other times you want to give him a hug. Excellent performances from the entire cast. Very funny moments and some really emotionally taxing ones too. My biggest complaint would be that most of the film is shot with two giant black bars on the side, it’s like an opposite widescreen mode, and every once in a while switches to real widescreen. It didn’t make the movie experience very fun, it felt claustrophobic, but maybe that was the point. I should also mention that the sound track was really 90’s cool. If you want to be a dear and watch a pretty emotional film, watch Mommy.
