Saturday Night Fever (1977)

When I have a fever and I’m in bed on a Saturday night, I don’t think I’ll turn to this movie. This movie isn’t bad, in fact it has some wonderful music and some great dance scenes… it just has a darker story than I would like. Travolta is the King of cool in this film. I love how he takes such pains to keep his hair nice and he spends more time in his closet looking for his clothes than the kids from Narnia. There is a lot of teen pregnancy and suicide themes which hit me out of left field. I guess I never imagined with the happy dancing movie poster that this film would have that, but I guess every character needs to overcome obstacles. So, I wouldn’t give this dance movie the grand prize but it does get a nice second place trophy.

76/100
