The Expendables 3 (2014)

This isn’t a throw-away sequel. I’ll admit, I didn’t really love the last Expendables movie, except for Chuck Norris being completely awesome. This film didn’t have Chuck, but it did bring in a huge new cast including Terry Crews and Ronda Rousey. I was happy to see a female action star brought in. Rousey didn’t always do a great acting job but she really knows how to kick butt and have a dazzling smile at the same time. Stallone still impresses me that he does so much writing for movies and even though this script wasn’t perfect, there were some great lines poking fun of the cast members. The best was the joke for Wesley Snipes evading his taxes. For having such a giant cast, I felt like most people had equal screen time. Antonio Banderas really stole the show with his fast talking, hyper-active personality. Action movies normally aren’t up for Oscars so don’t expect anything too deep, but if you like explosions and general bad-guy beatdowns this is a good choice… although, you could say these movies are pretty expendable too.

  1. I must say the best part of these movies are the jokes they make about each other, but then, I’m only watching because my brother rents it and brings over pizza so I’ll watch it with him:) I did enjoy seeing Wesley Snipes in a movie again and Antonio Banderas was hilarious. Chuck Norris is overrated. (Going to hide so people won’t hurt me for making that last statement….)

    • Yes! The jokes at their own expense are great! Sounds like a really fun time with your brother. When my brother is around, we like to watch really gross and campy Horror films. It’s okay not to like Chuck, but I just like how the hype from Walker Texas Ranger has made him this Tall Tale legend machine. They did a good job blowing up his legend to bigger proportions in Expendables 2!

      • My brother is my movie buddy. We can have entire conversations in movie quotes. And song lyrics.

Example of a campy horror flick, please.

I know Chuck Norris is a badass, I’m just not a big fan.
