Magic in the Moonlight (2014)

Finally Woody Allen conjures up some magic in this romantic comedy about spirit mediums and love. I thought that Emma Stone and Colin Firth worked really well with each other. Emma Stone was born to play roles during this time period, she just looked so great in that 20’s fashion. Colin Firth was excellent as well being the brooding magician who wants to debunk Emma Stones amazing powers. I smiled quite a bit throughout this film and I’m starting to understand a little why people like Woody Allen. I’ve only seen his new stuff, but I’m excited to see some of his classic films. This one was good for one of his newer films.

    • Nope, I haven’t yet. I’ve been working on a list of 100 movies for each year individually (I’m still on 2014) and I’m working on a list of 100 movies for a whole decade (doing the 80’s) so once I finish my last 16 movies for the 80’s, I’ll be moving backwards in time to the 70’s and I’ll get to watch it then. I’m excited to see it, did you like it? Also, you should check out Magic in the Moonlight. I feel like it’s one of his better movies I’ve seen in my limited experience with Woody Allen.

      • I have only seen the older Woody Allen movies. Annie Hall is a classic, a lot of modern romances have drawn from it, so you may find parts familiar that way. The Mighty Aphrodite was a little strange, but also pretty good.
