The Evil Dead (1981)

Just so you know, reading from a book of the dead is generally a bad thing in movies, with this film that rule applies. The Evil Dead is pretty amazing for how low of a budget the film was made on. Sam Raimi proves he’s a pretty creative guy with all the amazing shots and weird special effects. I found myself over and over saying “wow, that shot is really interesting” or I loved little things like the blood dripping on the lens of a movie projector turning the wall a bright red. The possessed people had some crazy make-up and he got them to act totally wacked out. The tree attacking scene was pretty shocking too. Bruce Campbell was a cool hero and funny as well. A great mix of comedy and gross-out horror. The perfect B-Movie.
