Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, when you put it like that it sounds insane… I found this movie to be quite enjoyable. I had a lot of trepidation about this film when I heard Michael Bay was involved, because I was pretty sure that he was trying to kill off every beloved childhood franchise that was dear to me… luckily, he didn’t have as much input for this film and Jonathan Liebesman and his writers did a very good job! So I was expecting to give this movie next to no points at all and now I’m giving it five reels for the sheer surprise the film put me through. Now, I did have some complaints… I still think Megan Fox was a weird choice for April O’Neil, but man she is pretty, and really this wasn’t the worst I’ve seen her do in a film, she wasn’t that bad.
Next was the design of the turtles, I hated how their faces looked but the CGI for them was really well done and I liked how strong and powerful they looked. Raphael was always my favorite turtle and he was AWESOME in this. I also enjoyed seeing William Fichtner in the role of a bad guy. He’s great at that! I laughed a lot and even though the plot wasn’t really anything new I thought it was fun and easy to follow. That fight scene sliding down the snowy hill on the truck was an awesome action scene. Don’t let people hating on this dissuade you, if you like the Ninja Turtles this was a fun ride… it was WAY better than all of the Transformers movies combined.
