Cool Runnings (1993)

Throughout the run of this film, I was surprised by how cool it was. A Jamaican Bobsled Team? No way, but this is based on a true story. The idea of course seems absurd but you really end up enjoying this and the fun characters. I was dying laughing when they were doing the cold weather training and I almost shed a tear as you see the team compete in the Olympics. John Candy was pretty funny as the has-been bobsled coach and the actors playing the Olympic team have some excellent chemistry together. This is just a fun, laid-back film, mon. You should check it out.

Escape from New York (1981)

Sometimes I felt like I wanted to escape this movie. You would think a film with a character named “Snake Plissken”, it was be incredibly cool… or at least cool that the President of the United States is trapped in a giant prison that they turned New York City into. Neither of these things help as this film was kind of boring. There were plenty of segments of quiet that weren’t very entertaining and even the action scenes felt a little lacking. Isaac Hayes was pretty funny in this and Kurt Russell was a pretty awesome looking anti-hero. I always love Harry Dean Stanton, but his role was pretty small in this for the most part. I had high hopes John Carpenter, but they have been brought down as low as a chandelier hanging from a Chrysler Lebaron.

Cinderella (2015)

I’m enchanted by Ella. This movie was a lot better than I was expecting. I loved Lily James as Cinderella, she was not only gorgeous but she gave off an air of kindness that warmed my heart. I thought the sets and costumes were amazing and it had really nice Shakespearean feel to it, due to Kenneth Branagh’s direction. I wasn’t a huge fan of Cate Blanchett’s boring version of the evil stepmother. She just looked like she’d rather be in some other Kingdom (maybe Middle-Earth?). I also wish more animals talked and there was better music. I did love the romance between the Prince and Cinderella and those class slippers were amazing looking… but nothing in this movie outshone Lily James, what a beautiful girl! This movie is good as an adult and is suited fine for children too (although, they may not like it as much as the Frozen short at the start of the film). Check this one out if you are a fan of classic Disney.

Big Hero 6 (2014)

I’m satisfied with my DisneyCare. I loved this movie! It had fun characters, epic battles and it was very funny. I should also mention that I think the robot Baymax might be one of the most lovable Disney characters I’ve seen in a long time. I loved the futuristic setting of San Fransokyo and the technology that the movie shows us. I thought the voice actors did a great job, especially Scott Adsit who did Baymax. This movie also contained the best joke involving flatulence that I’ve seen in a film. You’ll have a lot of fun, you’ll laugh, you’ll feel a little teary-eyed but you’ll mainly be satisfied with your heath-care, thanks to the awesome Baymax!
