The Fault in Our Stars (2014)

I hate this movie. Well, I don’t exactly hate it, but it did have a profound effect on me. I know it’s good for you to cry but the last twenty or so minutes of this movie break open the floodgates with sadness upon sadness. Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort are so sweet they’ll give you diabetes. Willem Dafoe is a major jerk for the most part, and sadly Laura Dern wasn’t utilized as much as I wanted her to be. This movie has some really sweet moments and some really sad ones too. I loved their friend with the cancer in the eyes as he had such a funny spirit to him, especially with the scene in the trophy room. It’s hard to recommend this movie as it is so sad, but if you need a good cry, grab some tissues and see where the faults are in our stars.

77/100

    • Haha, it’s funny that you mention that. I get movies in the mail from Netflix and I had this one sitting on my counter for weeks because I couldn’t get the courage to sit down and watch it, knowing that this movie would be sad. I finally just took a Saturday morning to watch it and ripped the metaphorical band-aid off.
