Spirited Away (2001)

I just have to give one big mouse kiss to this film. I just think it’s incredible! Hayao Miyazaki hits one out of the park with this Oscar winning film. Chihiro is one of my favorite anime characters and this movie felt a lot like the Alice in Wonderland of the East. I loved all the Shinto spirits that Chihiro gets to meet and the voice work of the film is awesome, even though the cast isn’t as star-studded as most Studio Ghibli films are. Daveigh Chase did a great job but honestly Susan Egan stole the show for me with her smokey deep voice. My eyes were glued to the screen for this spiritual adventure and I hope to see more films like this down the road for Studio Ghibli! Watch this if you love fantasy and anime.
