Nymphomaniac: Volume I (2014)

What an interesting movie. I love how the story is told by older Joe (Charlotte Gainsbourg) talking to a complete stranger Stellan Skarsgard. I love their back and forth talks and how Skarsgard goes off on his own tangents that seem to mirror what Gainsbourg is talking about at the time, comparing hunting men on a train to reading a river while fly fishing. Stacy Martin plays the younger Joe character and man, what a debut. She’s lovely and incredible. Uma Thurman’s part in this first section of the movie is my favorite though, it was hilarious and heartbreaking at the same time.

80/100
