Spaceballs (1987)

Spaceballs: The Review. May the Schwartz be with you, as you embark on Mel Brooks’ kooky adventure into space. This is obviously a parody of the ever popular Star Wars and has some really good jokes pointed right at that series. I especially liked John Candy as a “Mog” half man/half dog to replace Chewbacca from Star Wars. Bill Pullman was a great Han Solo character as “Lone Star”. Daphne Zuniga was a pretty Princess but she has nothing on Carrie Fisher. Mel Brooks’ use of “breaking the fourth wall” with his jokes are great, I also like how they make fun of Star Wars merchandizing craziness. There’s even a great Alien reference in the film. It’s not all laughs all the time, but it is very enjoyable and also an easy film to watch with many quotables. This should always be a classic you can come back to again and again.
