Joe (2013)

Cage is no average Joe in this excellent drama. I thought this movie was really nice. I was especially floored when I found out this film was directed by David Gordon Green who has done Pineapple Express, Your Highness and The Sitter. Normally a low-brow director, he filmed this gorgeous movie about an unlikely man to be the mentor to a child who knows nothing but abuse at home. I thought this was some of Cage’s better acting endeavors, and one of his more likable characters. I’m not a huge fan of really young actors but I thought Tye Sheridan excellent. This is a sad tale, but with beautiful cinematography and good acting, you’ll enjoy the ride.

88/100
