Edward Scissorhands (1990)

A very strange science fiction film and drama with some really sharp ideas. Tim Burton cuts you to the core with his Frankenstein’s Monster idea of Edward. The man with scissors for hands. Like the movie The Blindside, a caring mother takes a troubled youth into their home and takes care of him. The townspeople fear him until they realize he has talents that can benefit them. I thought Burton’s over-use of bright colors was great for this film, taking Edward out of the drab “Burtonesqe” mansion and into the colorful houses around the area with perfectly green lawns. I think the story was both hilarious and heart-wrenching. It’s a must-see for any movie lover.
