Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (2014)

Chris Pine seems to be afraid of his own shadow in this spy film. He plays the part of Jack Ryan, a name many might recognize from other Tom Clancy stories. This seems to be the origin story of Dr. Ryan. He’s new to the spy game and isn’t a seasoned and hardened killer yet. It was neat to see a new type of threat against the USA, an economic threat of crashing the dollar, but this movie was kind of hard to get into. It gets a lot better towards the end but I was pretty ready for it to be over after about an hour. Keira Knightley is awful in this, her acting seems to get worse as her goofy facial expressions don’t match the situation she is dealing with. It’s a fine film, I wouldn’t say it’s good though. Maybe worth seeing once if you are a Clancy fan.

68/100
