Pete’s Dragon (1977)

This dragons breath fizzles out. I remember loving this film as a kid. I mean, who doesn’t want their own dragon when you’re younger (or even older). Coming back to this movie now as an adult, it’s really shown its age. The mix of animation and real actors is still good just like Mary Poppins but the story itself just feels dated and unnecessary. I found myself bopping along to the songs, which were really good, but when they were over wishing they would skip to the next song since the story was pretty boring. Helen Reddy was a great singer, Mickey Rooney was pretty funny, the dragon was adorable, but honestly just listen to the soundtrack and skip the movie.

67/100
