Scream (1996)

This movie is the reason many were screaming in the 90’s. It’s hip, funny and has a good soundtrack to teens who want a little scare in their lives. I’ve always liked this movie and the series in general. There’s some clever twists and writing albeit the acting is a little poor. Still, I think this movie wins for pointing out the funny rules in Horror films. Which later The Cabin in the Woods picks up on. The carnage in the finale would make Shakespeare proud, so many dead while making it so very thrilling!

Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom (2013)

They weren’t kidding in the title when they said this was long. Nelson Mandela is a good and important man in history. It’s a shame a film about his life was so drawn out and boring. I was also confused why they had to show so many Mandela love-making scenes. Maybe it’s important to some, I guess? Still, I love Idris Elba as an actor and he did a very good job as Mandela. The sets and costumes and the massive amount of extras was pretty amazing too. I just wish there was some better pacing issues fixed before the film was released.

Nurse 3-D (2013)

Someone fetch a doctor to give these nurses an acting lesson! This horror film wasn’t horrendous with its gore, no the acting killed this film. I will admit I was entertained for the most part, but sometimes when both the female leads opened their mouth to speak… I cringed like I was about to be stuck with a needle. This film has some sadistic parts ala Saw but without the creativity. My favorite thing to do during the movie was point out 3D parts that I wasn’t seeing on my non 3D television.

The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

What’s this? A movie about Christmas? What’s this? A movie you can’t miss! From the mind of Tim Burton and directed by Henry Selick comes this unique Halloween? Christmas? movie about the Pumpkin King Jack Skellington, who discovers there is something more to the world than one (even though it’s the best) holiday out there. The animation is beautiful, the songs are catchy and they will be stuck in your head over two different holidays. My one complaint would be that the movie goes by quick and ends before you expect it to. Still, it’s one of my favorite animated experiences. Check it out!

Toy Story 2 (1999)

Disney/Pixar dug deep into the toy box and pulled out this sequel. Sure, it’s not as good as the original… but honestly for a Disney sequel it’s pretty darn good. The toys are just as funny as before, the story seems to be a lot more action focused and less heartfelt. Some new characters are added into the mix and they fit in just nicely. I still love all the animation, music and voice work. No complaints there. I just for whatever reason didn’t like this one as much. It’s still worth seeing though, it has some fun moments for sure.

Toy Story (1995)

Sheriff Woody may have a snake in his boot, but he’s got a great group of friends to go on an epic animated adventure. I really love this film. The music is really nice and catchy. The humor is fantastic. There are a lot of hidden jokes in the background of the film. I like that Joss Whedon “King of the Nerds” helped write this. Tom Hanks and Tim Allen played off of each other very well. It’s not my favorite film done by Disney/Pixar but I really do like it. It’s so easy to watch again and again.

12 Monkeys (1995)

At least there wasn’t a barrel full of them, 12 we can handle. I think that this film is quite intriguing. The time travel gets you a little confused sometimes but the acting is superb. I especially like Brad Pitt’s craziness, Madeline Stowe’s performance was very strong. She’s also a real looker. Bruce Willis had to go through a lot in the film. It isn’t all good all the time though, sometimes it feels overly long, but the surprise at the end makes up for it a little bit. I really liked the ending.
