Sushi Girl

In all honesty I watched this film to see Mark Hamill. It was worth watching just for him. Otherwise this movie was pretty stupid. I have to give Cortney Palm credit for basically laying flat on a table with Sushi on her naked body for almost the entire duration of the film. I love Tony Todd’s deep menacing voice also. I guess my biggest complaint was that this movie was too simple. It’s basically an hour long torture scene with a slight twist at the end. Hamill though, wow. I liked him.

Sinister

A pretty inventive horror film. I thought that the bad guy in it was spooky looking but kind of lame. The thing I loved the most was the home movies. Not only were they engrossing (stress the grossing part) and creepy but I loved their titles and how they related to what was going on. Pool Party, House Painting, Lawn Mowing, BBQ… haha wow I just love it. The sounds put into the film were unnerving and superb. Hawke’s acting was really great, oh and kudos to using a creepy ginger well.

Undefeated

A very great sports documentary about a poor school in Tennessee who has never won a playoff game in their school’s history. I thought that this movie had everything that a good sports movie should. Drama, excitement, ups and downs. The documentary didn’t go the direction I thought it would by the end but I was satisfied. This also makes me wish it was football season already! The coach Bill Courtney seems like an amazing man to do what he did. I wish him the best of luck in the future.

Anna Karenina

This movie was a thing of sheer boredom. There was really no actor or actress that really stood out to me. The writing was pretty bad and I found myself thinking about anything but this movie while watching this. I know I actually checked the clock many times during this over two hour long film. The one saving grace was the production design and costumes. It was all beautiful when they were showing it off. I loved the transitions into the theater setting. I wish they did that more.

Joyful Noise

The movie itself isn’t the best. In fact, according to my wife this movie is a watered down ripoff of Sister Act II. Still, when the music was good, it was great. I just couldn’t say I liked really any of the characters at all in the movie. I usually love Queen Latifah but she was very unlikable in this. Everyone else was basically a no name actor for every other role. The final music scene was incredibly epic and the wedding scene at the end was quite cute so it gets some points.

Small Apartments

I Just didn’t love this. Matt Lucas did a pretty good job considering his part was pretty crazy. This is the biggest role I’ve seen him do and I felt like her honored the part well. I just didn’t understand this movie at all. It felt like it never went anywhere. I also felt like some strange morals to the story were slipped into this. I was really in awe at how many big actors played such small roles in this. Even more strange was Dolph Lundgren and Johnny Knoxville being in the same film.

Valentine’s Day

I actually liked this movie. Sure it isn’t the best film in the world but it was a nice date night movie especially on Valentine’s Day! (I know I’m so creative). So this movie had me on edge because usually when they get a large cast of talented people together, I feel like laziness ensues and the movie suffers. This film on the other had was done quite well. I thought the writing and connecting of all the characters was very intelligent. Plus I mean this had Taylor on Taylor action, so win!
