Snow White and the Huntsman

A movie with some epic scenes put before you but sadly the acting in the movie is lacking and the script is pretty weak as well. Kristen Stewart was just as awful as ever and at no point did I look at her and say “Oh wow, she really looks like Snow White”. He skin was too tan and her hair wasn’t black enough. Lily Collins has her totally beat in the looks department for Snow White. This movie was pretty boring but at least the locations were pretty neat.

Dark Shadows

A movie that started off hokey and slow and ended with a bang (and some blood). I thought that Dark Shadows was a unique film, even though it was based off of an old soap opera. The trailer was deceiving as it made this movie look really corny and bad and what it didn’t show was some of the really good actors in this: Moretz, Carter, Green, Lee and other big names along with Pfeiffer and Depp. By the end I was having a lot of fun with the film and would watch it again.

Love and Other Drugs

Another drama disguised as a comedy from its trailer. I thought it was an interesting concept where Jake Gyllenhaal is a beginner in the Pharmaceutical rep. buisiness. Then out of the blue (pun intended) Viagra comes out and makes Gyllenhaal a wealthy man. The whole time this is going on he is finally settling down with a girl who doesn’t want to settle down due to her Parkinson’s disease (Hathaway). The movie is about love pushing past sickness. It’s sweet but pretty sad at parts.

The Amazing Spider-Man

I’m as disappointed as I thought I was going to be with this movie. I felt like this movie really didn’t bring anything new to the table that Sam Raimi hadn’t already done in his Spiderman Trilogy. I thought that Andrew Garfield was a good actor but a terrible Peter Parker. First of all his Edward Cullen hair did not scream Peter Parker to me and his skateboarding antics made me roll my eyes. The bad guy was boring and Emma Stone did what she could to save the movie along with Sheen. Next.

The Bounty Hunter

A pretty generic RomCom. I’ve seen Gerard Butler be a lot more funny in other movies like the Ugly Truth and I’ve seen Aniston be a lot better in other movies too like Horrible Bosses and Just Go With It. I think the writing really dragged this movie down. It even had a pretty decent romantic comedy director who did the hit movie Hitch. So, I was disappointed. It had a few laughs but just too few to call this a good flick. Oh well, time to move on to something better.

Arthur Christmas

A really cute Christmas movie with fun voice acting from great stars such as Jim Broadbent, James McAvoy, Bill Nighy and Hugh Laurie. My only complaint about this movie is the over-use of the hyper militarized elves that have been done before in other animated films to show how high tech and subversive the Operation Christmas can be. Granted, it was quite funny at times. I really loved the gift wrapping elf, she was great and the crazy old Grandsanta. A cute film for sure for the holidays.

A Nightmare on Elm Street

A really fun old school horror film. I love this movie. The thing that blows me away the most are the special effects in the movie. They didn’t have all those fancy CGI things to work with and they didn’t even have cell phones but they still made really cool effects and ways to kill teenagers. Freddie is one of the best horror villains out there. I also loved the fact that Johnny Depp was in this. His part was pretty lame but it was cool to see him so young in this. Nine ten never sleep again.
